Split

I am intrigued with the notion of embracing oneself. “Spilt” symbolizes the awareness and acceptance of dualities of one’s persona. Being aware of one’s duality is what allows the spirit to grow. “Split” speaks in riddles, and the notion that speaks the loudest is “know thyself”; that is the essence of this painting. I wrote this poem after finishing “Split.”

Still like moons and suns 
Like roses and guns
While red rubies fade a blue diamond’s shade
The contrast divides
As I rise
